About Check je wijk

Where you live shapes a lot: your commute, your neighbours, the school around the corner, what your house will be worth. Yet most people pick a neighbourhood on gut feeling and two viewings.

Check je wijk puts all public data about every Dutch neighbourhood in one place, measured the same way. So you can fairly compare a neighbourhood in Groningen with one in Maastricht — especially useful if you’re new to the Netherlands and don’t know the cities yet.

The site uses only open data from Statistics Netherlands (CBS), the police and the Kadaster. How the grades are calculated is documented on the method page.
