The nearest railway station is eighteen kilometres away, and yet Dorp in Hoek van Holland gets a 7.6 for amenities. That is because the station determines only a sixth of that pillar and everything else is nearby: supermarket, GP and restaurant are within a few minutes' walk. For the daily shop this is a well-served spot, for rail commuters it is not.

The 3.4 for safety is the real problem. Violence here is at almost three times the Dutch level, and theft, burglary and vandalism all come out above it too. In a neighbourhood of this size it is not a handful of reported offences that tips the picture.
